Ropework and materials get a boost
The supply of traditional ropework, as well as the books, the tools and materials for those wishing to do their own work are set to expand thanks to a new arrangement between Des and Liz Pawson's Footrope Knots and Classic Marine…
From January 22, 2012 Moray Macphail of Classic Marine in Woodbridge is taking on the cordage and tool supply part of Footrope Knots.
Des Pawson explains: 'We have known Moray for 20 years and he intends to expand and develop the range of tools and materials available (he already has brought back into stock the 2.5 & 3mm cotton chalk line).
'This is the best way that the supply side of Footrope Knots can continue and expand. The internet has generated many more enquires and customers and the extra sales have been restricting the time we have to work on other areas of the business.
'This move will enable us to concentrating on knotting, ropemaking and research, writing, teaching and demonstrating.
'You are still welcome to contact us for help with any of your knotty, ropey problems, and we will continue to stock a range of specialist knotting books.'

The Museum of Knots and Sailor’s Ropework also continues to flourish under Des and Liz's care, indeed it is expanding. Visitors, as always, will be very welcome, but do make an appointment.
You can contact Moray directly at Classic Marine, Unit 15, Martlesham Creek, Industrial Park, Sandy Lane, Woodbridge, IP12 4SD
